New to Leakproof Underwear - LP04
Thinking about trying leakproof underwear? Read this first.
Not every pair is made for the same kind of leak. Here are three things worth checking before you buy.

Yes — this is leakproof underwear.
What leakproof underwear is
Leakproof underwear looks like regular underwear, but it has absorbent layers sewn into the gusset, plus a moisture barrier underneath. Instead of sticking a pad in your underwear, the protection is built in.
Most pairs are reusable: you wear them, wash them and wear them again. Many women keep several pairs so there’s always a clean one while others are in the wash.
It’s underwear with protection built in, made to be washed and worn again.
Light, moderate or heavier leaks?
Leaks aren’t one size, and neither is protection. A rough way to think about it:
Light
A few drops with a sneeze, cough or laugh.
Moderate
A noticeable leak, like not quite making it to the bathroom in time.
Heavier
A larger leak that arrives quickly and needs real capacity.
Match the pair to the kind of leak you usually have. Buying for your heaviest days is usually the safer choice.
3 things to check before you buy
Absorption speed
Most people only ask how much a pair holds. Just as important: how quickly it takes a leak in. A sudden leak that waits on the surface has time to spread toward the edges.
Ask: does the brand show a real, unedited test?
Capacity & coverage
How much the absorbent core can hold, and where it sits. Front-to-back coverage matters as much as the total amount.
Ask: is it described for light leaks, or for fuller ones?
Comfort & fit
Protection only works if you’ll actually wear it. Look at the fabric, the waist height, whether it rustles, and whether the size range fits your body.
Ask: does it have a real size guide and an easy return?
Regular underwear vs. pads vs. leakproof underwear
| Regular | Pads | Leakproof | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Absorbs a leak | No | Yes | Yes |
| Reusable | Yes | No — thrown away | Yes — wash & rewear |
| Feel | Normal | Can shift or feel bulky | Like regular underwear |
| Sound | None | Some can crinkle | Fabric, usually quiet |
| Ongoing cost | — | Bought again and again | Higher upfront, reused |
Pads are easy to start with. Leakproof underwear is for women who’d rather it feel like normal underwear and not keep buying disposables.
Is MaxProof 2.0 right for you?
We make MaxProof FlowLock™ 2.0, so take this with that in mind. Here’s how it lines up with the three checks, and where it isn’t the best fit.
Speed
A RapidDraw™ perforated top layer lets liquid pass into the core instead of waiting on the surface. You can see the difference against our original in the unedited test below.
Capacity & coverage
A deeper absorbent core than our original, designed with moderate to heavier sudden leaks in mind.
Comfort & fit
Soft fabric layers with no plastic crinkle, in sizes XS–6XL, with a size guide right on this page.
Probably a good fit if…
- Your leaks are sudden, from a sneeze, laugh or not making it in time
- You want something that feels like regular underwear
- You’d like to stop buying disposables every week
Maybe not the best fit if…
- You only get an occasional drop — a lighter liner may be enough
- You need protection for a full bladder release or overnight heavy flow, where an incontinence brief may suit you better
- Your symptoms are new or getting worse — please talk to your doctor first
